Identify Possible Deskpro Hard Drive Problem and Upgrade Firmware for HP Compaq Deskpro 4000 5200X Creates a bootable diskette that determines whether a 2.5-GB Sirocco hard drive is installed in a Deskpro 2000, 4000, or 6000 Series computer. Some of these hard drives made before June 25, 1996 may have a stiction problem. A fix was implemented after June 25, 1996 to correct the error. The utility on the diskette displays the manufacturers date code for the drive. If a user is having problems with the hard drive, and the utility shows that it is a Sirocco drive made before June 25, 1996, the user should arrange for their Compaq Service Provider to replace the drive. This utility also upgrades the 2.5-GB Sirocco hard drive firmware to correct a false POST error message (1720 Intellisafe Failure).This update detects all types of hard drives, but only updates the firmware on Western Digital hard drive models AC22100-60H and AC32500-60H .
